Job Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the daily activities of the Pharmacy department within a retail store. Additionally, to assist customers with their health care needs by filling prescriptions and providing excellent customer service. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.
Experience / Requirements:

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

• Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled by completing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance, applicable to state and federal Board of Pharmacy regulations.
• Build profitable business and script growth through recommended clinical programs
including appropriate immunization and when available MTM (Medication Therapy Management), DCS (Diabetes Care Specialist), and all ongoing other programs as identified.
• Oversee the daily activities of the Pharmacy department.
• Counsel customers with regard to medications filled at the pharmacy.
• Ensure growth and profitability of Pharmacy Department.
• Handle and resolve customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.
• Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations.
• Interact with physicians to gain additional information about customers and prescriptions to be filled.
• Ensure excellent customer service by Pharmacy associates.
• Maintain a clean and efficient Pharmacy department.
• Provide leadership and development for associates by communicating career opportunities, providing regular performance feedback, and demonstrating RAPTAR
(Recognition, Appreciation, Praise, Treat Associates Respectfully) behaviors.
• Maintain appropriate security of the Pharmacy department.
• Maintain reports for controlled, outdated, and recalled medications; and prescription and customer files.
• Manage pharmacy inventory at acceptable levels to fulfill customer need.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures for controlled substance dispensing and record keeping.
• Prioritize Pharmacy Department tasks and follow through to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner. Including, but not limited, to cycle counts, inventory management and will-calls to customers.
Education:

Bachelor's degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.), or equivalent in Pharmacy, and Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (i.e. APhA) plus a minimum of one(1) year experience as a licensed Pharmacist; or equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition, the associate should have experience in a retail environment.

SUMMARY
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

Attend all Management Development Program (MDP) training classes.

Learn about all of the possible situations that can occur in a retail store to prepare for the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager position.
* 
Assist the Store Manager with the operation of the retail store and complete his/her duties in his/her absence.
Enforce all policies and procedures to ensure excellent customer service is provided and to maximize the P&amp;L performance of the store.
* 
Ensure the appearance of the store is pleasing to the customer and meets the requirements of the corporate office.
* 
Ensure the store opens and closes at the appropriate time.
* 
Ensure the proper procedures are followed for cash transactions and bank deposits.

Interact with vendors to order ad, seasonal, and basic merchandise and ice cream (where applicable) for the store.

Ensure all merchandise is set up according to plan-o-grams received from the corporate office.

Execute weekly sales ads and price changes.
Process recalled, damaged, outdated, and transferred merchandise.

Receive merchandise deliveries from vendors and Rite Aid distribution centers.

Verify vendor invoice information is accurate and enter it into the accounts payable system.

Prepare the retail store for physical inventory by ensuring merchandise on the sales floor and in the stock room is in order and easy to access.

Analyze operating reports and make recommendations for improvement.

Remain knowledgeable of the One-Hour Photo department and film processing, if applicable.

Assist the Pharmacy department when there is a high volume of customers.

Request store maintenance when required.

Assist with the general maintenance of the store, both inside and outside.

SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Control inventory by performing proper receiving and stocking including accurate cycle counting, processing merchandise transfers according to procedures, and reporting inventory problems to the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager.

Accountable for store cash and other financial assets, reconciling cash register drawers, preparing deposits, and ordering changes from the bank as directed by the Store Manager and/or the Assistant Store Manager.
* 
Assist with the general maintenance and appearance of the store by ensuring a safe and pleasing environment for both customers and associates; respond to any unexpected emergencies to ensure the protection of company assets.
* 
Oversee that store inventory is regularly inspected in accordance with the Product Freshness Review Schedule as directed by the Store Manager and/or the Assistant Store Manager.
* 
Ensure that all outdated product and product with less than 30 days until expiration is removed from the sales floor to be processed through the established returns process.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position involves managing tasks and supervising store associates in those limited circumstances when the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager is unavailable. This position does not involve, hiring, firing, or disciplining associates or recommending any such action, which should be brought to the attention of the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager.
